Its future was uncertain, to say the least, and the uses for one were limited.

Apple finally unveiled the new Apple Watch Series 4 at an event this week alongside the new iPhone XS, iPad Pro and a whole host of other cool tech.

And the Series 4 will be available in Singapore from Sept 21 with the cellular version exclusive with Singtel. Apple is promising an all-day battery life on the Watch Series 4.

Many users have held onto older Apple Watch models, and this represents a massive change to the device that could convince users to upgrade. Let us dive into the matter.

The iPhone Xs resolution comes in at 2436x1125 pixels identical to the iPhone X and the device features a 15 percent faster new processor, the A12 Bionic. Despite being bigger, the casing for the Apple Watch Series 4 is smaller than previous models. The peak brightness level of 1000 nits is also being retained.

Series 4 contains a tiny new S4 chip.

AT&T will kick off pre-orders for the Series 4 on September 14 at 12 a.m. PT at its retail stores,, and the myATT app. It also carries the same high level of water resistance as the Series 3, allowing it to be used in a swimming pool.

The trillion-dollar company has touted the new addition as one of the best ways to engage with someone else without being face-to-face.

The design of the Apple Watch 4 is much like many would expect - it's based on the previous four models (the first Watch was retooled and re-released, remember), but now is ever so slightly larger, as you can see in our side-by-side pictures.

The digital crown has been completely re-engineered and now comes with haptic feedback to make menu navigation more precise.

And while Series 4 can do the usual things smartwatches do-respond to texts, take phone calls, cue up music-Apple today stressed the health and fitness benefits of its device. Apple Watch Hermes is also coming with new bands and watchfaces soon. A GPS-only version starts at $399.

The new watch has new features, like the ability to measure your heart rate with an electrocardiogram, and a hardware redesign that gives it a larger display. Now, it can detect if you slip -and it can differentiate between a fall and a slip - and offers an SOS button so that you can make an emergency call from your Watch.

Not just that. but the watch's new ECG feature measures heart rate and will let you know if anything is irregular or potentially risky. Apple Watch now supports Electrocardiogram (ECG) for better heart rate monitoring. Williams says those features will be available this year.

"Apple Watch has become an intelligent guardian for your health", said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

During Apple's unveiling, American Health Association President Ivor Benjamin said capturing such data will help prevent stroke, heart failure and other problems.

Stay tuned for a full review of the Series 4. The watch will also come in a new 40mm and 44mm sizes. Apple is also dropping the price of Series 3 watches to $279 immediately.
