Luke Shaw back at Manchester United after head knock on England duty

Marcus Rashford reflects on the defeat to Spain on Saturday

That Shaw is already driving his vehicle - something concussion recipients are normally advise against doing - shows he is already making solid progress and that, crucially, the injury was nothing serious.

Shaw has been a revelation this season for United and has inarguably been their best player so far but he suffered a sickening injury during England's 1-2 loss to Spain on the weekend.

Shaw performed impressively on his first England appearance for 18 months at Wembley, setting up the opening goal for United teammate Marcus Rashford, before he was involved in an ugly aerial collision with Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal.

Meanwhile, England's manager, Gareth Southgate also gave an update about the defender and said they wouldn't take any chances.

Shaw left the field on a stretcher after more than five minutes of medical attention.

"I chose to spend mine back at home, to make sure that I'm feeling fully charged ahead of the games that are coming up soon.

He will return to Manchester United on Monday", the FA said.

Luke Shaw's seven-day mandatory period recovering from concussion means he will be unavailable for Manchester United's clash with Watford on Saturday.

The 23-year-old earned a recall to the England squad this week for the first time since March 2017 after being given a run of games at club level by Jose Mourinho.

However, his latest transfer plans, may just indicate that Rose's reprieve is only to be a short-term fix, as if Spurs do sign another left-back then the England international's future will come into question again.
