Although Isaac has weakened, NHC warned as it gets closer to the Lesser Antilles, it could bring strong winds and heavy rain.

As of 5 a.m. EDT, Florence was centered about 625 miles (1,005 kilometers) southeast of Bermuda, moving west at 9 mph (15 kph).

SC coastal areas can expect tropical storm force winds by Thursday morning on the storm's latest track, according to John Quagliariello from the National Weather Service in Columbia.

The storm is expected to become a Category 4 hurricane very soon, with the National Hurricane Center forecasting maximum sustained winds of 150 miles per hour.

"The bottom line is that there is increasing confidence that Florence will be a large and extremely risky hurricane, regardless of its exact intensity", Blake said.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper's office said that Florence is already being felt along the state's coast, with large sea swells resulting in life-threatening rip currents and surf.

"Satellite imagery indicates that the maximum sustained winds have increased to near 105 miles per hour (165 km/h) with higher gusts", the NHC said in its latest advisory.

Meanwhile Helene, which is now 600 km (375 miles) away from the Cabo Verde Islands, is forecast to diverge north-west away from land by Thursday.

Hurricane Helene will likely continue to strengthen since it is in a low wind shear environment and warm waters.

On Parris Island, South Carolina, recruits were ordered evacuated from the Marine Corps' biggest training installation on the East Coast.

The storm is moving slowly towards the west at 9 miles per hour with winds of 65 miles per hour.

At this statistical height of the Atlantic hurricane season, Florence was being trailed on east-to-west paths by two hurricanes, Helene and Issac.

Trump has declared states of emergency for North and SC and Virginia, and canceled campaign events Thursday and Friday in anticipation of the storm.

"Hurricane #Florence this morning as seen from @Space_Station", Arnold tweeted on Monday.

In addition, in the Pacific, what's now Hurricane Olivia is forecast to approach Hawaii as a tropical storm on Tuesday. SC emergency management officials said they were "preparing for the possibility of a large-scale disaster".

This week is the expected peak of hurricane season, according to forecasters, so seeing these active storms churning through the Atlantic right now isn't fully unexpected.

Hurricane Florence is the biggest concern to the USA, as it will likely impact the Carolinas between Wednesday and Friday.

That said, much of the long-term forecast for Isaac was uncertain, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday. But experts are urging people along the eastern seaboard to be especially cautious. "I don't know where to go from here", she said.
