Colorado Man Confesses to Killing Pregnant Wife and Two Daughters

Shanann Watts daugthers

Krista Henery, a spokeswoman for the Weld County District Attorney's Office, said the formal filing of charges is not expected until at least Monday.

Officials in Colorado say they have recovered a body after the husband of a missing, pregnant Colorado woman was arrested in connection with her disappearance and that of their two young daughters.

In addition to three counts of murder, the father has been charged with three counts of obstructing justice for allegedly tampering with physical evidence.

Chris Watts, 33, admitted killing 34-year-old Shanann Watts, who was 15 weeks pregnant, and daughters Celeste, 3, and Bella, 4. "We have strong reason to believe we know where the children are, and recovery efforts are in process".

His wife and kids have been missing since Monday.

She had been in a hurry to sell a house in Belmont, west of Charlotte, and left behind the furniture as part of the sale, said the man who bought it, Byron Falls.

Shortly after, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Colorado Bureau of Investigation became involved to help the local department with what Albert described as "a case of this magnitude". "She's always gung-ho ready to go".

Shanann Watts announced her third pregnancy June 11 in a series of Facebook posts, and provided her followers with updates in the months to follow. If they're not safe right now, that's what's tearing me apart.

An Amber Alert for the case was never issued because Shanann Watts' vehicle was found at the family's home in Frederick, a small suburb outside of Denver, authorities said.

Police passed out flyers to passing motorists in Frederick on Wednesday afternoon in hopes of more information from the public.

In an angry Facebook post early Thursday, Frankie Rzucek of Aberdeen said he is Shanann Watts' brother and wrote: "I just want to know why". She wasn't here, the kids weren't here, it was like they were here and then they were gone'. If somebody has her, just bring her back.

Investigators have not said what led to the killings.

Watts' friend told KDVR she called police on Monday and walked through the house with officers as they did a welfare check.

Although Shanann's body was located on property owned by Anadarko Petroleum, where her husband worked, the prosecution team revealed during the court hearing that the crime was likely committed at the couple's residence, The Denver Channel reported.

The Frederick Police Department said Chris Watts was taken into custody.
