Chelsea sign goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao in club-record deal

Hazard has been strongly touted as a target for Real Madrid this summer but there is yet to be any official confirmation of the Spanish club's interest in signing him.

The Belgium star, who spent three seasons at Atletico Madrid from 2011 to 2014, wanted to move closer to his two children in the Spanish capital and had stayed away from training with Chelsea this week in a bid to force through the transfer.

In January, Madrid were set to meet his then-release clause of €20m as it looked increasingly unlikely that Navas would be renewing his contract with Madrid.

Arrizabalaga has played 53 La Liga matches for Athletic Bilbao since breaking into the team in 2016. "I have been here for nearly 15 years, I joined when I was nine".

"So many things attracted me to the club - all the titles the club has won, the other players, the city, the English Premier League", Kepa said. Since I was little I've been an Athletic fan and always will be.

Kepa could make his Premier League debut against Huddersfield on Saturday after completing a deal that director Marina Granovskaia believes will be great for Chelsea.

Athletic, all along, were only expected to sell should Kepa's buy-out clause be matched.

With just two days left to sign a replacement, Chelsea must act fast and they have made a quick, significant move for a new number one.

Real Madrid have confirmed that Courtois will undergo a medical on Thursday morning, before signing a six-year deal and being presented at 1pm local time (midday BST).

Chelsea added in a statement that subjects to the completion of the Courtois deal, Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic would join the Blues from Real on a season-long loan. Transfer fee for the Belgian's move has not been disclosed by the clubs.

And he will now line up at the Champions League holders after Madrid agreed a reported €35m (£31m/$40m) fee that will also see Kovacic spend a year on loan in London.
