Here's How The Bachelorette Is Handling Garrett's Social Media Scandal

Bachelorette Becca Kufrin picks her man and Bachelor Nation does not approve

"The Bachelorette" Becca Kufrin gave out her final rose to Garrett Yrigoyen! She said yes to the proposal from Garrett Yrigoyen, the contestant who's made a name for himself this season for his countless homophobic and racist tweets.

Colton and Tia's relationship was a major plot point during the last season of "The Bachelorette", and now, they'll have a chance to see what's really there.

But pity only goes so far. That should stand him in good stead if he becomes the next Bachelor, which seems possible from all the social media love he was getting on Monday night. And I can picture us taking care of one another whenever we're sick. "Wait", she said. It was a no. With some careful elisions, thoughtful reframings, and a promise that they'd grow together, Kufrin, Yrigoyen and The Bachelorette rewrote a story about harmful right-wing troll content into an against-the-odds tale of true love. Interestingly enough, they aren't ruling out a return to reality television.

So during her last trip with the final two suitors in the Maldives, she brought her family to help make a decision.

From receiving the first impression rose in the premiere to the last rose in the finale, Yrigoyen has been a standout this season. How did Yrigoyen manage it?

And after fans were left outraged following Joe "Grocery Store Joe" Amabile's shock exit, the latest Bachelor In Paradise promo has revealed the much loved Chicago native will be making his return.

Here's how it worked: Harrison asked a softball question about how Kufrin and Yrigoyen's life has been since the show aired, a clearly prearranged opening for them to discuss the controversy.

As for those problematic Instagram double-taps, Garrett told Chris Harrison that they were just "mindless taps" and he didn't mean anything by it and doesn't understand why people would "attack [his] character" over liking memes claiming Parkland school shooting survivors were crisis actors. Her sister told her Garrett was "incredible", adding, "I felt like I had known him for years".

At the end of their date, Garrett gushed, "I know that you're the person that I need in my life to make me be a better version of myself every day but I want to make sure that I'm the person that does that to you as well". He says that he didn't mean to offend anyone and didn't want to hurt Becca, but doesn't clarify whether or not he believed the content in the posts that he liked online. The Bachelorette gives us no way to know. On the show, we don't have phones or social media.

"I got to see who he is, his heart, his soul".

Kufrin said she didn't condone the situation, but she said Yrigoyen stands by his apology.

"I am sorry to those who I offended, and I also take full responsibility for my "likes" on Instagram that were hurtful and offensive", he wrote. "He didn't mean it". "So when we started talking about that, we got through that together, and we're growing, we're progressing and we're moving forward".
