Ryanair Irish pilots to join widening strike on August 10

Ryanair flights cancelled strike full list

Ryanair's pilots in Germany and the Netherlands have also voiced their support for the strikes launched by Ryanair's pilots in Ireland and could join the strikes any time in the near future, according to local media reports.

Ryanair's pilots based in Belgium and Sweden have announced that they will strike on August 10, a date that coincides with the strike date just announced by Forsa.

Pilots in Belgium and Sweden have announced a walkout for Friday, August 10.

Ryanair has condemned this fifth strike as irresponsible and disruptive to the thousands of passengers who will be affected during this peak travel period.

The budget airline said the decision was driven by the "rapid growth of Ryanair's Polish charter airline. allied to a down turn in forward bookings and airfares in Ireland partly as a result of recent rolling strikes by Irish pilots".

The airline has called it "unnecessary and unacceptable" that they continue.

Forsa announced the news earlier today after little progress had been made between trade unions and the airline.

It said that the pilots continue to seek a "fair and transparent method" to govern base transfers and related matters which they say is common practice in the industry.

"The airline's escalation of the dispute when it threatened to sack 100 pilots and 200 cabin crew, or transfer them to Poland, led to a predictable hardening of resolve among its staff".

"In the 19 days since the first one-day strike took place, company management has agreed to just two hours of talks, despite Fórsa's repeated assurance that it is available for discussions at any time".

Its shares fell further on Thursday and were down 3.6 percent at 13.02 euros by 1525 GMT, their lowest level since November 2016 and 8 percent below the level hit in December when Ryanair shocked the markets by recognising unions.

Since Forsa has called for another strike before the meeting there is no point for Ryanair to meet with the union, said the statement, adding that Ryanair will notify its customers about the cancellations of 20 flights due to the strike, which will affect a total of 3,500 customers.
