George Clooney reportedly hurt in Italian scooter crash

George Clooney hospitalized after car accident in Sardinia reports

The John Paul II hospital in Olbia said Clooney was released on Tuesday. Clooney was then flung off of his scoot 20 feet into the air, reported TMZ, before he flew into a car's windshield that shattered his helmet.

Giovanni Mannoni, a police commander in Olbia, said the actor did not suffer any serious injuries or break any bones.

Clooney described himself as being "banged up", CNN said.

NBC News reporter Claudio Lavagna tweeted: "George Clooney has already been discharged following collision between the scooter he was traveling on and a vehicle". In fact, the actor said in an interview a year ago that he fell in love with his wife Amal Clooney after meeting her in the area in 2013.

A local news agency and newspaper suggest Clooney has a suspected hip injury, but is not seriously injured.

The image showed slight damage to the actor's bike and smashed glass to the left of the Mercedes car's windscreen. "He is recovering at his home and will be fine".

Earlier this year, actor Will Ferrell was caught up in a two-car crash in California.

Sardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea and is over 500 miles from Clooney's villa in Lake Como. Clooney was on the island shooting his new series Catch-22.

The couple have also been joined by George's parents, Nina and Nick Clooney, and Amal's mother Baria Alamuddin.
