New Orleans family has son’s body displayed in front of TV at wake

Body of dead teen was honored in a very unusual way as his corpse was positioned in a chair facing a television screen with PlayStation pads in his hands and his favourite snacks next to him.

Matthews, who attended McDonogh 35 High School, loved the Boston Celtics and playing video games.

According to ABC affiliate WGNO, Matthews was killed two weeks ago, and family members chose to have his body prepared in a way they want to remember him.

Since Matthews was a fan of video games and the Boston Celtics, his family used Sunday's wake as an opportunity to feature him doing what he loved.

One image showed the dead man lounging in an office chair in the middle of the funeral parlor, wearing his favorite sports attire and surrounded by some of his favorite snacks.

The tragic youngster had been out walking his dog when he was shot and robbed of his cellphone.

Renard Matthews died in a shooting June 25 near North Tonti and Independence streets.
