LeBron James could be leaning towards a return to Cleveland

Fadeaway World

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Alabama point guard Collin Sexton with the No. 8 pick of the National Basketball Association draft Thursday night.

Sexton would take some ball-handling pressure off of LeBron, and he'd provide some energy at the point guard position - something the team sorely needs.

In addition, the source also reveals that LeBron James' camp has been in contact with the Cavs front office and that James has made it pretty clear over the years that he wants to be in Cleveland and raise his family there. That remains to be seen, but Sexton should be an impact player this season either way. "And I like I said, it was an historical year and probably one of the best postseason runs of all time and very, very fortunate to have him here and what he have to this franchise this year was nothing short of remarkable".

The Cavs managed to get to the Finals for the fourth straight time, but they didn't have almost enough firepower to hang with the Golden State Warriors, who swept them and won their third title in four years.

"I think externally things that may happen are more likely to keep LeBron there than anything the Cavs can do".

In the season since he demanded a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving's old jersey number - 2 - has remained out of circulation for the team.

"We're incredibly excited about Collin Sexton and the attitude, work ethic, his competitive fire, he's a scorer, but I just love his competitiveness that he's going to bring to this franchise and the energy that he's going to bring to this building", Altman said.

James must notify the Cavs by June 29th if he wishes to opt in to his one year deal and with Cleveland drafting point-guard Collin Sexton with the 8th overall pick, Cavs GM is somewhat optimistic about retaining LeBron.

Sexton, 19, averaged 19.2 points and 3.6 assists as a freshman for the Crimson Tide.

From afar, given the Cavs' record in the last two Finals against the Warriors, it would seem they aren't close to beating them. After the Cavs won the championship in 2016, James signed a two-year contract with an option for this season. They believe they have some assets to do just that, though Altman suggested the Cavs plan to keep Sexton, rather than trade him. "But like he (James) says, experience is the best teacher, and we gave those guys a great experience over 30 games and into the playoffs and into the Finals, and what does that mean for us moving forward, I think it's all really positive".
