23-foot python swallows woman as she gardens

A 54-year-old woman was swallowed by a seven-metre long python in the village of Persiapan Lawela on the island of Muna offshore of Sulawesi

According to Hindustan Times, the body of the 25-year-old man identified as Akbar was found when local people cut open the 23-foot python after it was found bloated and slithering awkwardly in the village of Salubiro, on the eastern island of Sulawesi on Monday, March 27, 2017.

Police superintendent Agung Ramos said Wa Tiba had gone out to check her garden the previous evening and never returned.

The woman killed has been identified as 54-year-old Wa Tiba, a mother of two.

A further probe led them to the discovery of an enormous python nearby, too heavy to move.

Tiba's entire family and about 100 other villagers then went in search of her.

"We were immediately suspicious that the snake had swallowed Akbar because around the site, we found palm fruit, his harvesting tool, and a boot", a senior village official, Junaidi, told reporters.

The shocking video contains images of villagers cutting out the slithering snake's giant belly to find the human body it had swallowed completely!

While her head was towards the tail of the huge snake, her legs were by its mouth, an indication that she was swallowed head first. Later in the video Tiba's remains are removed from the snake's belly - fully dressed and intact.

Resident Ayu Kartika said: "Everybody was crying, everybody was shocked". We can only hope the poor woman didn't suffer too much when the snake got to her. "The people are terrified, afraid to go outside".

Sulawesi is an island in Indonesia that is home to some of the biggest and most deadly wild pythons in the world.
