Warriors Willing To Give Kevin Durant Any Contract He Chooses

Warriors' Durant hints at retirement -- when he's 35

The Houston Rockets had also invoked Arthur in a pre-game warmup video earlier in the season, just days after James' Instagram post. "I could never have dreamt of three titles in four years".

His business partner, Rich Kleiman, told ESPN that Durant told him in the past the he could retire at age 35.

Even if this is all just in good fun, it seems risky to stir the pot with a player like Durant. If not, I'm still cool.

"My responsibility is to whatever team I play for. It's a cool accomplishment to be up there with the greats and to be considered someone who can potentially chase that, or beat that, but I'm not playing for that".

However, the defending champions, spearheaded by former MVP Kevin Durant, overcame a scare from the Rockets during the Western Conference Finals to reach their fourth-straight NBA Finals - albeit in less bedazzling fashion than spectators in the NBA had come to expect.

"Especially if I continue to approach the game the right way every day like I've been doing, hell yeah".

Durant then used that context, of the conditions under which certain players have displayed that greatness, to offer arguably his most eyebrow-raising observation: "I feel like it's easy to be the best player when you don't have good players around you". So many groups of people probably view my game differently. I pride myself on working hard wherever I go.

"They're excited. They're getting old enough to really appreciate watching me on TV and celebrating with me". That's what my legacy lies in.

How it all shakes out is anyone's guess, but the Warriors know it has to shake - at least a bit - if they're going to be back in the same position this time next year.

Durant, though, might have plans on retiring a lot sooner than that.

Kevin Durant has won back-to-back National Basketball Association championships, two Finals MVP awards and a regular-season MVP, and has nine All-Star appearances.
