'Slim Chance' LeBron James Would Join Warriors Or Celtics, Reports Say

This isn't the first time Mannix has expressed doubt about James joining the Celtics, as he also recently said that Boston should steer clear of the 33-year-old superstar because signing him would require the C's to revamp their roster.

Irving should probably be careful what he wishes for, because one question a day during the regular season would end up being a lot of questions by the end of the season.

After watching what the Warriors did to the Cavaliers in the Finals, Irving nearly seems bold for talking about a championship.

That came shortly after Celtics play-by-play man Mike Gorman said he wasn't sure if Irving would be a member of the Celtics in the coming seasons.

As for his own future in Boston? Brown and Tatum are both future stars, and both Gordon Hayward and Horford have made All-Star teams in the past.

Burning question: How good is this Celtics team when healthy? While these reports are just talk at this point, while Irving was in Cleveland, he had expressed interest in going to NY to play for the Knicks on multiple occasions.

He doesn't want to talk about his contract extension - which he said would not make sense "contractually" or "financially" - he doesn't want to talk about his long-term plans with the Celtics, and he doesn't want to talk about the possibility of his former teammate LeBron James coming to Boston. "That's really the only thing I'm anxious about".

"That's what makes it even more exciting and the challenge is now we have championship pedigree", Irving said.

"I would just say the consistency, the authenticity, and honesty, from everything that we're doing as a team and an organization", Irving said. "They gained a lot of experience, and now it can only help us going forward". Boston would take a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers but the Celtics would drop the final two games of the series.

Smart's future with the Celtics is uncertain, as he's set to become an unrestricted free agent, but Irving isn't focused on the rumor mill of who's staying and who's going. "I think around this time is probably 15 weeks until the third week in September -- not that I'm thinking about it or anything - so I'm excited to just really utilize this offseason to dedicate myself to my craft and things outside of it", he said.
