Square Enix's E3 2018 showcase is short and sweet

The most surprising news of the short presentation was a meeting of two of the most popular franchises in gaming. Despite the Luminary being on the receiving end of a monologue about how harsh their life has been so far - and then taking part in a battle against the undead - it's all quite strangely celebratory. The game will be available September 4, 2018 for PS4 and PC worldwide.

If Square Enix are going to come again next year, they really need to bring their A game and not play nice with other publishers and give away their biggest tricks.

Square Enix has announced a new game called The Quiet Man, and released its announcement trailer.

After an exciting day full of announcements from Microsoft and Bethesda on Sunday, Square Enix is kicking things off on Monday with its first E3 press conference since 2015. Some Shadow of the Tomb Raider gameplay was welcomed, showcasing how Lara is basically just asking out MGS: Tomb Eater now with her dispatching of bad guys with the same freedom as Nathan Drake with just as little in the way of a conscience. Platinum Games is best known for games such as Vanquish, NieR: Automata, and the upcoming Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link.

Just Cause 4 will release on December 4 2018. Nobody was forcing them to host a press conference, but when you hold one, people naturally have expectations.

Dragon Quest XI was also looking very good, with great graphics and an interesting, somewhat Zelda-esque, open world.

Octopath Traveler was also given a quick name check, while a crossover with Monster Hunter: World was announced for MMO Final Fantasy XIV Online this summer.
