Sister of Dutch queen dies aged 33 in Argentina

Her body was found Wednesday night by her mother María del Carmen Cerruti and a friend of Zorreguieta, said news agency EFE. Argentinian authorities are still investigating the 33-year-old's death but they too have pointed to suicide.

According to reports, Inés Zorreguieta worked for the civil service in Buenos Aires, and had been suffering from depression.

Queen Maxima of Holland's youngest sister, Inés Zorreguieta, was found dead in Argentina in an apparent suicide, local media reported.

Queen Maxima, 47, also has two brothers, Martin and Juan, and three half siblings.

Her father, Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta, died a year ago in Buenos Aires at age 89. She was only 33. "It is intensely sad and heartbreaking news that can hardly be comprehended for those who stay behind", Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said.

Zorreguieta was a psychologist who worked on social policies at the office of Argentina's president, Mauricio Macri. I wish them all the strength necessary to carry this disgusting loss together. She has since canceled her forthcoming engagements including a state visit to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania next week. She had also worked for the social development ministry in Buenos Aires province and at a United Nations office in Panama.

She was a bridesmaid for her sister's 2002 marriage to then-Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, and goddaughter for the couple's youngest daughter, 11-year-old Princess Ariane.
