US First Lady Melania Trump in Hospital for Kidney Condition

Trump says first lady doing 'really well,' will leave hospital in days

The primary woman was final seen in public on Wednesday at a White Home occasion the place she and the president honored navy moms and spouses for Mom's Day.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump tweeted that Melania is "doing well" and will be out of the hospital in no time.

"Embolization is what we refer to as a minimally invasive surgical technique", says Robert Glatter, MD, an emergency physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

At the Capitol later, where he joined Republican senators at their weekly lunch, Trump reiterated that his wife is "really doing well".

"Usually, with embolization there is over a 90 percent success rate", he said. I want to thank the incredible doctors. "So, Walter Reed. was really fantastic". Will be leaving the hospital in 2 or 3 days.

The White House said the procedure was "successful" but withheld details of the first lady's condition, citing her privacy.

The White House didn't elaborate on her medical diagnosis.

Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt, urologist at Orlando Health in Florida, said, the most common condition he would use an embolization procedure for would be "something called angiomyolipoma, which is basically a benign growth of the kidney that has some fat in it and some cystic components". Mrs. Trump is 48.

He also visited Monday after doctors performed the "embolization" procedure.

Sometimes embolizations can be done on an out-patient basis, he said, but sometimes they admit the patient overnight just to keep track of the kidney function and to make sure there's no excessive pain.

The notoriously private first lady underwent the procedure Monday with no leaks beforehand from her small, close-knit East Wing staff. She later accompanied Trump to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland to welcome home three Americans who had been released from detention in North Korea. They have a 12-year-old son, Barron.

Stephen King (left) came under fire for a tweet he made about first lady Melania Trump's recent kidney surgery.

President Donald Trump is expected to visit his wife in hospital, a White House official added.
