Star Fox Spin-Off Game Rumored to Be Coming From Retro Studios

According to leaks, Retro Studios, the developer behind the Metroid Prime trilogy and two Donkey Kong platformers, is working on a Star Fox racing spinoff.

Supposedly the gameplay will be similar to F-Zero but the structure will be closer to Rare's N64 classic Diddy Kong Racing.

While the name (and the game itself) hasn't been proven, a logo for Star Fox Grand Prix separately appeared on 4chan, which is more than enough reason for anyone to take this information with a pinch of salt.

When Metroid Prime 4 was announced past year at E3, the conclusion most came to was that Retro Studios was working on it.

Retro most recently dropped Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for the Nintendo Switch, a re-release of the original Wii U version of the game that dropped back in 2014.

Nintendo fans who have been wondering just what the famed Retro Studios has been cooking up will be happy to know that it's a Star Fox game.

It's also a little-known fact that Retro helped out extensively on Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS, and so do have quite a bit of experience making non-simulation-based racing games. Well, it looks like they might be taking things in a different direction, with a new rumor suggesting that Star Fox: Grand Prix is in development.

Information from Eurogamer's sources has lined up with what was posted online, but the outlet did not confirm Star Fox Grand Prix as an official title. Provided if this rumor of the game, is true, then we can surely expect an Adventure mode, boss fights and a hub world to soar around. An F-Zero game from Retro is something I can get behind.
