In response to President Buhari saying that Nigerian youths are lazy, singer, Kcee has threatened to jump off the Third Mainland Bridge.

The President while speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster, London, on Wednesday, said a lot of Nigerian youths do nothing and want everything free, in the notion that the country is an oil-rich nation.

The comments have been met with harsh criticism, with Nigerian youth either stating the strides they have taken in their lives or highlighting some of the systemic failures that have limited them from achieving their dreams using the #lazyNigerianYouth on Twitter.

He noted that President Buhari had always applauded and celebrated Nigerian youths who excelled in different areas of endeavour, from sports, to academia, and other realms.

During a February 2016 interview with UK Telegraph, Mr Buhari said some Nigerians in the UK, mostly youth, are disposed to criminality and should not be granted asylum there.

It must be stated unequivocally that Nigerian youths will pull their strength together in 2019 to show who the lazy ones are by voting competent, vibrant and intelligent individuals who will represent our interest, true efforts and giant strides around the world.

"If Nigerian youths are lazy, you won't find them all over the world seeking greener pastures".

Atiku, in disagreeing with Buhari wrote, "Our youth are charting new frontiers; creating a huge tech industry on their own!"

He also countered that the youths constitute the majority of Nigeria's population, adding that they are hardworking and contributes greatly to the development of the country. He sits and does nothing at Aso Rock.

He spends 103 days in London and we pay for it! Now, they are receiving the short end of the stick from the president.
