Manchester City crowned PL winners

Man Utd

"Our Time. Our City".

A week after City surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to United and squander the chance to wrap up the title in ideal style against their arch-rivals, it was relegation-bound West Brom who served it up on a plate.

But Jay Rodriguez's 73rd minute header gave West Brom a stunning victory after they arrived at Old Trafford having lost nine of their previous 10 games.

"During the week I was trying to fight that because I was feeling it".

Goalkeeper Ederson Moraes was watching former club Benfica play Porto in the Portuguese league.

Because of this loss, Manchester City are crowned as Premier League champions.

Pogba had found himself benched by Mourinho last month and the United boss believes the 25-year-old, whose future was the subject of speculation in the build-up to him spoiling City's planned title party, can be more consistent.

"In the end, if we analyse the game, they fully deserve the victory", he said. "Very happy to call us champions this year".

The Catalan coach saw his side state their intentions early on in 2017/18 , with a 1-1 draw at home to Everton in August followed by a 20-match winning run in all competitions.

Few - including Guardiola - expected it to happen on Sunday.

West Brom's caretaker manager Darren Moore spoke to reporters after his side's superb 1-0 win against Manchester United yesterday, and disagreed with Jose Mourinho's claim that the visitor's only real threat was from set plays, as quoted by the Express & Star.

"You win titles with consistency at every level, not just the performance level but the mental level and the day by day".

However, Mourinho is confident he can get United back challenging for the title next time out. This result left his team one point clear of third-placed Liverpool, with a game in hand.

"I think United will win".

Their dominance of the league, with 28 wins and just two defeats bear that out, but the circumstances in which they have been handed the title were surprising. They defended tight and conceded possession to United, two things that wouldn't be surprising when a lower league team faces a top team.

Manchester City have won the Premier League title with five games remaining; equalling the English top-flight record.
