CBI has booked the MLA and a woman named Shashi Singh under charges of kidnapping, inducing a woman to compel into marriage or illicit intercourse, rape and penetrative sexual assault against children. The 2nd is in rioting, in which 4 people have been taken into custody. "He will be produced before a local CBI court in Lucknow on Saturday", said a CBI source in Lucknow.

On Thursday, the court questioned the Uttar Pradesh government for not arresting BJP lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

"We have now only reproduced the FIRs lodged by UP Police, so charges mentioned in the FIR have actually been slapped by UP Police", a CBI officer said.

Sengar was asked 21 queries including whereabouts of his brother, Atul and another suspect Mahesh during the time of the incident.

Under the laws (IPC and CrPC), the police are duty bound to arrest a person who has been charged with rape and a case registered against him.

The CBI took over the investigation in three cases related to the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl by Sengar today.

The agency filed three FIRs in the case late on Thursday over the rape and the victim's father's death in police custody. He also suffered 18 serious wounds as per the post mortem report.

The CM's comments came five days after the victim tried to immolate herself in front of the CM's residence demanding justice. The FIR was filed against him hours after the state government declared that it would hand the probe over to CBI. The case has been transferred to CBI finally after pressure mounted up.

He was detained by the probe agency from his residence in Lucknow city earlier in the day. In Unnao, they further bifurcated into two units.

The CBI team also met the victim at a hotel in Unnao where she is put up under police protection. "The team also spoke to doctors who had done medical examination of the survivor's deceased father", said Gaur. They came back to Lucknow around 7.30 pm.

However, the CBI re-registered the FIRs lodged by the UP police and grilled the MLA (who is yet to be arrested).
