This means, if you broke your iPhone 8's screen, and had to get it repaired by anyone other than Apple, you will will have a hard time using the phone post iOS 11.3 update.

Obviously the glass back doesn't have a metallic shine when light hits it like the red iPhone 7, but it's a striking, vibrant phone all the same. The 64GB iPhone 8 RED Edition is priced at $699 in the United States, while the 256GB model will be available at $849. These prices are identical to other colors that the iPhone 8 is available in.

Except for the color, the exterior design and internal hardware remain same in the new iPhone 8 series.

Will you be picking up the (RED) iPhone 9 or iPhone 8 Plus?

iOS 11.3 is one of the most important updates for Apple's iPhones in the recent years. At least there's always the Product RED silicone case and now the leather folio for the X.

"Today's announcement is further evidence of Apple's leadership in and commitment to the AIDS fight since the beginning of (RED) in 2006", Deborah Dugan, (RED)'s CEO, said in a statement. The RED iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have joined the Silver, Gold, and Space Gray colors. That said, a new report from Vice relays that the recent iOS 11.3 update Apple rolled out late last month appears to be bricking iPhone 8 units with screens provided by third-party fix shops. So I'm all the more disappointed that Apple decided against a Product RED iPhone X; this shade of red with stainless steel sides would've looked great.

Apple has had a partnership with (RED) for 11 years now and has raised more than $160 million for HIV/AIDS support programs. But the scarlet shade is even more gorgeous in glass than it was in the aluminum red that Apple debuted with the iPhone 7 past year.

When the problem gained publicity, Apple apologised for the issue and quickly released an update to the "Error 53" issue.

The problem stems from users that sought third-party repairs for their broken iPhone 8 displays.

Apple has yet to release any numbers on what they intend to donate per sale of the new RED Special Edition phones, neither has it mentioned the number of purchased devices over the years.
