New Ford Focus Unveiled!

"This complexity reduction helps Ford lower and control costs while ensuring Focus customers can more easily and quickly find the model that meets their needs", the company said. Speaking of which, Ford says the dynamic coefficient is 0.25 for the four-door Focus and 0.273 for the five-door model while weight was cut down by 88 kilos compared to the current model.

It also has an all-new look that mirrors the brand's most recent models, with the grille similar to the one found on the Fiesta and the body including sharper creases - while the interior in top-end models also incorporates a floating eight-inch touchscreen with the Sync3 infotainment system.

There's a wide range of engine options - although, perhaps surprisingly, no hybrid yet - with the 1.0 litre Ecoboost in 84bhp, 99bhp and 123bhp guise, 1.5 litre EcoBoost in 148bhp and 180bhp and 1.5 litre EcoBlue diesels with 94bhp and 118bhp.

"The all-new Focus is the fulfillment of the Focus promise and as of today, sets the benchmark for others to follow".

The vehicle can park itself at the push of a button and can even help you get out of tight spots with its "Park-out Assist".

Future Ford vehicles will adopt this pattern.

Any new tariffs shouldn't impose restrictions on Ford's venture with Changan, which manufactures cars in China for the local market, said He Chaobing, executive vice president at the unit.

As you might expect, the new auto is laden with tech; adaptive cruise control now features a stop and go function for navigating through traffic. If stopped longer than this, the driver can push a button on the steering wheel button or gently apply the accelerator to pull away. Unlike its rival's active cornering lights that relies exclusively on steering inputs, the Focus' Adaptive Front Lighting System with Predictive Curve Light uses a camera to read the road conditions ahead, and pre-emptively swivels and adjusts the headlamps' focus in anticipation of an upcoming curve, junction or roundabout.

The new Focus hatchback, which is 50kg lighter the current model and has a 20 per cent stiffer body, also has a vastly improved drag coefficient over the current model - 0.273 - and apart from a hatchback there is also an estate version along with an Active small crossover available as either a hatchback or an estate. There's also a 2.0 litre diesel with 148bhp. There is, however, no mention of an RS or ST so you will have to wait patiently if you want a more potent Focus experience.

Estate cars are not as popular as they once were, so it's good to see Ford still making a practical estate variant of the Focus -. Ford has been able to slim that down, while still providing plenty of bins and cup holders. "In Europe and China, there is still a lot of runway left for Focus".

The 2020 Focus will also get some new available features, like a foot-swipe-activated hands-free liftgate and a wireless charging pad. Some additional lead time is to be expected between the Focus's sales debut in Europe and China later this year and its eventual launch on this world of the world.
