Ferrari planning all-electric supercar to rival Tesla Roadster 2.0

Ferrari planning all-electric supercar to rival Tesla Roadster 2.0

The plan would be a significant change of direction for Marchionne and Ferrari.

But it was no real surprise that Ferrari had bowed to the inevitable, especially with the Lamborghini Urus about to arrive (at that point) and the Bentley Bentayga doing great business. Somehow, it feels unlikely that Musk himself is going to want one of these any time soon, but once his own midnight cherry Tesla roadster is launched into orbit around Mars, he is going to need something to drive around in.

Ferrari has indicated it may take Tesla head-on in the electric auto market.

'If there is an electric supercar to be built, then Ferrari will be the first, ' Marchionne said at the Detroit Auto Show.

Ferrari chief Sergio Marchionne has promised an electric supercar, which will challenge Tesla's sports vehicle, the Roadster.

Ferrari, the famed sports vehicle manufacturer based in Italy, which earlier disliked the idea of manufacturing eco-conscious electric supercar, has now unveiled its plans of developing an SUV. People are amazed at what Tesla did with a supercar. "We need a lot more work to be done before we can make that a legitimate answer, motorized sports cars". And although that future won't happen overnight, we can already take a glimpse of the luxurious all-electric vehicle market. As electric cars grow in popularity, and as an increasing amount of the world's energy is generated from renewable sources, petroleum-based fuels will increasingly be seen as socially irresponsible and undesirable.

Forget about the next-gen Roadster or even the original Roadster, which came out in 2008 and some considered a supercar, but there have been plenty of electric supercars since, like Rimac's Concept_One, Nio's EP9, and others.
