Michael Zorc: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 'becoming untolerable' at Dortmund

GETTYMalcom is understood to be close to joining Arsenal

Former Bundesliga striker Jan Aage Fjortoft says he has been told that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is likely to join Arsenal this month.

The right back, a scorer in Arsenal's defeat at Bournemouth on Sunday, has recently followed Aubameyang on Twitter which - as we all know damn well - is all the excuse needed for some to jump to conclusions about a possible transfer move.

The Telegraph report that Arsenal are interested in bringing in the Gabon global as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez should he leave the club.

Furthermore, Mislintat may also try to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Arsenal in a deal with Manchester United for Alexis.

Aubameyang wouldn't be a like for like replacement for the Chilean, because they are very different players, but it would perhaps indicate that under-pressure Arsene Wenger would re-model Arsenal's attack and surely that can only be a good thing, given their goalscoring woes and form.

He said: "With Malcom I am taking it day by day... if he leaves, he will be replaced". Yet where Arsenal had previously been led to believe the Gabon forward would not be interested in a move to the Emirates stadium, there is hope now that he will be more open to a switch to England.

Even with Arsenal linked to Aubameyang and Malcom, I won't be anxious until Wenger or their board goes.

"What is going on now is not to be tolerated by the club", he said over the weekend. "I didn't want to travel with him and suddenly he does go somewhere".

Certainly it appears he has burned his bridges in Dortmund, with Borussia's general manager Michael Zorc having grown impatient with the player's indiscipline off the pitch. He was a part of the England squad that won the European Under-19 Championship last July.
