Palestinians reacted angrily when President Trump threatened to cut off aid to the Palestinian Authority, and the face off between the Palestinians and Trump puts any future Israeli-Palestinian negotiations in doubt.

But they can create a bloody mess on Israel's border, creating problems for the Jewish state and throwing the peace process even more into doubt.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley explained the tweets.

Palestinian officials and other leaders in the Arab and Muslim worlds have said that the move essentially disqualified the USA from brokering peace talks in the region. The US is the largest donor to UNRWA and ending its aid could have a particularly damaging effect in Gaza.

Just a month ago past year, President Trump infuriated Muslims all over the Middle East led by the Palestinians when he announced that the USA government would move their embassy from Tel Aviv to the newly proposed capital of Jerusalem. But after these latest tweets, Israeli officials had a different take.

"They left the room in April (2014), and for four years nearly they (were) reluctant to negotiate with Israel and they should not be given so much money from the American taxpayer", Hanegbi said.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump tweeted he was considering halting payments to the PA.
