Facebook Stickers, New Group Calling and Contacts Features

WhatsApp is enabling the quick switch to video call for Android! | WABetaInfo

The new feature was introduced in a beta update for the messenger app, and is now only available for users who have signed up for the beta version, where the company tests new and experimental features.

WhatsApp launched a new feature that will let users switch from a voice call to a video call or vice versa.

Tapping the button will send a request to the person on the other side, asking if he or she wants to switch from voice to video.

So what happens is, during a voice call and one of you wants to switch to video, they will have to tap on the video icon (as highlighted on the screenshot). It's hardly a revolutionary change but it helps make the whole WhatsApp calling experience a little more seamless.

We received a lot of reports about this feature now working on Android 6.0+, on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.18.1 and newer. Do you think that this feature will be useful to you? This quick switch button is present on the call screen and pressing it will switch between a voice and video call or vice-versa. There are no official words on when will this feature make it to the stable version of the app. If they acknowledge the offer, the call will be exchanged. With this new feature, you don't have to cut the call and go to the chat list to create a video call. They are preparing to bring a new option for the voice and video calls in a group.

WhatsApp is said to be one of the largest messaging apps with close to 1.5 billion users globally. On the other hand, it is unclear if iOS users will get the feature or not. If they decrease, the voice call will proceed as ordinary. This is why the support between voice and video calls has been stopped. Currently, this feature is hidden and under the internal testing by developers.
