Everything You Need To Know From Today's Nintendo Direct Mini

Earlier this morning, we got a peek at what's coming to the Switch in early 2018 via a surprise Nintendo Direct. Including a number of announcements. Definitive Edition, Payday 2, and Kirby Star Allies leading the pack. The game will feature your favorite Mario characters sporting tennis outfits, and include a full story mode. That and the visually impressive Kirby Star Allies. Fe is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch on February 16, 2018.

There are free demos available on the Nintendo eShop for Kirby Battle Royale and Dragon Quest Builders.

Players will be able to experience Hyrule Warriors in 1080p HD graphics in TV mode. The games that are coming to the Switch includes a new Mario Tennis title and ports of The Worlds Ends With You, updates to Odyssey, perhaps most unexpectedly, Dark Souls, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Payday 2. Then in 2000, Nintendo released a tried and true "MT" game for the N64 console aptly titled "Mario Tennis 64".

Funky has a host of new abilities that combine all of the other Kong's abilities into one character, including double jumping, hovering, and infinite rolling.

The biggest third party announcement is that the first Dark Souls video game is getting remastered. During a recent Nintendo Direct Mini broadcast, the company announced "Mario Tennis #Aces" for the Nintendo Switch.

The first Mario Tennis on the Nintendo Switch comes with its first Story Mode. Better yet, you can mix and match friend abilities to perform ultra new combos. The Switch is also getting a port of the action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana this summer, which came out on the PlayStation Vita in 2016.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy was announced, it will feature an all-female ensemble. It includes all the content and DLC from the Wii U and 3DS versions, as well as new outfits from Breath of the Wild.

Fans of the "MT" games already know what to expect from any sequel at this point, though Nintendo is including something fairly new for this latest installment (more on that later).

You can look for Payday 2 to launch on February 27th next month. Surprisingly, you didn't actually play as established Mario characters, but instead as new human characters like Alex and Max (not the most memorable Mario characters, I have to say).
