Anderson Cooper swears he wasn't behind tweet calling Trump 'pathetic loser'

CNN says it's gotten to the bottom of Anderson Cooper's Trump-bashing tweet... and all signs point to a forgetful assistant

TMZ is reporting that the newscaster claims his Twitter account was hacked and that he did not actually write the retaliation that ended with Cooper's verified handle calling the President a "pathetic loser".

After Democrat Doug Jones was announced the winning in Alabama's election on Tuesday, Trump tweeted about why he didn't originally endorse Moore, and why it was the right decision. Trump noted that he had first backed Roy Moore's primary opponent, Luther Strange.

"Oh really? You endorsed him you tool!"

Cooper in his own tweet said he woke up to find out "someone gained access" to his account.

CNN released a freaky statement attempting to explain why the Twitter account of Anderson Cooper posted an anti-Trump message on Tuesday evening.

In a statement Wednesday afternoon, CNN clarified that Cooper did not tweet the message.

Cooper also commented on the hack, telling followers he has "not sent a tweet in days or replied to any tweets". "Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him!"

Explanations aside, the social media response was critical.

The 50-year-old CNN host's tweet was deleted shortly after as he regained control of his account. According to CNN, someone took possession of the assistant's phone while he was at the gym and sent the tweet. "We are looking into how this happened".

The tweet was deleted, and CNN and Mr. Cooper explained that the account had been compromised.

We were rooting for you Anderson. He's apparently the only other person besides Anderson with access to the account.
