BBC To Host Seven Day Doctor Who Marathon Before Christmas Special

Peter Capaldi and David Bradley in Twice Upon a Time

It was also announced Friday that BBC America's Christmas Day broadcast of the episode, which is titled "Twice Upon a Time", will be followed by a new special, Doctor Who: Farewell to Peter Capaldi, which looks back at the actor's time in the TARDIS. It's Christmassy, which is very fun and there being two Doctors, and meeting the Doctor at the point of him not wanting to regenerate is quite exciting. It will also highlight the show's writer Steven Moffat as he reflects on his time with DOCTOR WHO, as reported by Deadline. The special will feature interviews with Capaldi and Moffat, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of things like Capaldi's first and last table reads as The Twelfth Doctor. And to make it even more special, it sees him team up with the very first Doctor, who will be played by David Bradley (Harry Potter, The Strain).

Twice Upon a Time also features Mark Gatiss (who has written Doctor Who episodes before) as a World War I soldier known only as The Captain and the return of Pearl Mackie as companion Bill Potts. There are also enchanted glass people who steal their victims from frozen time, so you know things will get insane. An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity's darkest hours, Twice Upon A Time marks the end of an era. In the photo are the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and the First Doctor (David Bradley). "But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning..."

The announcement was made with the release of a new Twice Upon a Time trailer.

Reports also noted that the upcoming Christmas special episode will preview the arrival of the Thirteenth Doctor, who is played by Jodie Whittaker. This year's Christmas special finds the 12th and 1st Doctors stranded in the Arctic, on the cusp of their impending regenerations into different bodies.
