Selena Gomez Breaks Down During Billboard's Speech

Selena Gomez pays emotional tribute to Francia Raisa for life-saving transplant

Blige also touched on her personal journey while accepting the Icon Award, highlighting the responsibility she feels to help people get through whatever situation they may be in: "I'm a fighter, I'm here, and I'm out here fighting for you".

Yep, we warned you.

At Billboard's Woman of the Year event yesterday, Gomez accepted her award with a shout-out to her best friend and kidney donor, Francia Raisa.

The star confirmed she'd undergone kidney surgery back in mid-September, with the singer taking to Instagram to admit "there aren't enough words to describe how I can possibly thank my handsome friend", along with a photo of the pair holding hands in separate hospital beds. The former Fifth Harmony member performed her sultry single "Havana", which hit No. 1 on Billboard's pop songs charts this week. "She saved my life", Selena said tearfully. Does she feel like it is a battle scar?

The Wolves hitmaker, who recently got back with ex boyfriend Justin Bieber, had to take a brief hiatus from her successful music career due to health problems.

"It was so positive for our friendship", she says about the operation. "It was really hard in the beginning", she admitted.

"Extra's" Renee Bargh spoke to Gomez, who opened up about her new life, just before her emotional speech onstage.

She said, "To be honest, I'm not sure how to answer - not because I'm trying to back away from it". "I want people to know I respect the platform that I have so deeply because I knew that I wanted to be part of something great and I wanted people to feel great".

"I mean I don't think anybody truly, actually cares. I feel like I can make a positive impact by sharing my story". In acting and in film, you're around a much more stable community.
