Thursday's weather: Cooler air moves in with an afternoon high near 70

Temperatures will be chilly once again overnight with lows falling down into the upper 20s around the metro and lower 20s outside city limits.

There is a chance that it does not rain at all on Sunday due to the weak nature of the front.

Mostly sunny skies have taken over after the dense fog across the mountains early this morning. We will see a dry and seasonable day with highs in the lower 40s.

We'll stay mild all throughout the weekend, so you'll have plenty of nice weather to soak in - just before it all changes next week. And instead of starting the month with bitter cold, we're actually starting quite mild and that's a trend we expect to continue right into your weekend. Winds will be strong out of the northwest as well, gusting near 40 miles per hour through the afternoon. High temperatures should be in the 50s those two days.

As soon as Sunday night rain showers return to the area. Another cold front is making its way to Louisiana, and this time, the front will be much stronger. We will have mostly cloudy skies, and will see more clouds Monday night. There is a good chance of shower and thunderstorm activity as the front moves through.

A slow-moving front is passing through Georgia today, taking the rain away but leaving low clouds over much of the area. A few snow/rain showers may be possible as well due to a lingering front offshore and waves riding along it.
