PM Modi launches e-governance Umang app for citizen services

It is an evolving platform designed for citizens of India to offer them access to the pan India e-Gov services from the Central, State, Local Bodies, and Agencies of government on app, web, SMS, and IVR channels.

The app, available for both Android and iOS devices would give users access to most of the government services. The UMANG app has three sections on the top that includes Home, Favorite (shows marked favorite services), All Services (further includes Central and State section) and a list of States to choose from, for the services provided by a particular state.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD) has built up the app. The availability of the app in 12 regional languages in addition to English makes the app user friendly and relevant to tier 2, 3 cities and the rural areas, thus widening the scope and exposure of the app. That said, if you want to register your Aadhaar with Umang app, then you should use the same mobile number registered on the Aadhaar.

The UMANG app is expected to provide access to over 1,200 services of various government organisations in states and at the Centre as well as utility payments.

Top left app has a three bar button that takes the user to another section that includes Profile setting, Service Dictionary, Transaction History, DigiLocker and Settings of the app.
