Bus conductor Ashok, first accused in the gruesome murder case of Class II student Pradyuman Thakur, was allegedly beaten up, hung upside down, tortured and sedated, to coerce a confession, his family has claimed.

Summary: "A day after his release, Ashok Kumar sporadically cries out in pain and complains of chest burns and can't use his legs fully. What worries him is that he doesn't have a job anymore, and may not find one easily".

Additional District and Session Judge Rajni Yadav granted bail to Ashok on furnishing a Rs 50,000 bail bond.

The incident sparked a public outcry after which the Gurgaon Police arrested Ashok, alleging him of killing the student.

"Villagers are with us and they all want us to demand justice for Ashok and action against the irresponsible police officials", he said.

Mohit Verma, lawyer of bus conductor Ashok said, "Police had planned everything, an innocent was trapped". Ashok was arrested on September 8. The court heard arguments from both sides and reserved its order until 3 pm on Tuesday. They said him that the whole country is upset due to the case and so he must confess. There were lot of differences between findings of CBI and Haryana Police.

The CBI, which was handed the probe after sustained pressure from Pradyuman's parents, too claimed Gurgaon Police had tortured Ashok.

On 23 September, the CBI took custody of the bus conductor, who as per the Haryana Police had killed the child after a failed bid to sodomise the victim.

The CBI investigation led officials to arrest a class 11 student in relation to the crime, thereby giving Ashok a clean chit. The 42-year-old Kumar was arrested on the same day that seven-year-old Pradhuman's body was found in the washroom of school with throat slit.According to the police, Ashok was accused of slitting the throat of the student.
