Stalker kills girl by setting her on fire in Chennai

A 21-year-old woman engineer was killed while her family members are battling burns, after they were set on fire in Chennai by a classmate of hers, who had been stalking her for over a month.

Victim Indhuja's mother and sister, who came to her rescue, also received burn injuries during the incident. Indhuja and her family were initially reluctant to open the door, but Aakash persisted, claiming he only wanted to speak to Indhuja for a few minutes. Read Also: Man threatens girlfriend with knife, later hangs himself to evade arrest But when Akash came to know that her parents have started looking for a groom for Induja, Akash made a decision to raise the issue again and went to her house at Saraswathi Nagar 7th street in Adambakkam.

S Induja, was set on fire at the doorstep of her home in the city's Adambakkam area. As per the reports, her mother and sister have also got injured.

The suspect, 23-year-old Akash, a science graduate, who was pursuing Induja against her wishes was arrested following the incident. However, when the three women came out, splashed petrol on Induja and used a lighter to set her fire.

Neighbours, hearing cries, rushed to help the family and rushed them to hospital. She died after stalker an unknown man allegedly burnt her.

Other reports, however, claim that there had been an altercation between Indhuja and the stalker first, after which he poured the petrol on her.

Induja, the victim was an engineering student. "Knowing that my brother is working overseas, the accused came to Induja's residence".
