He is set to also attend the 12th East Asia meet on Tuesday.

Duterte, 72, emerged from one of the bilateral meetings late Monday and told reporters he was "a bit" exhausted from day-long engagements.

Trump said his trip had resulted in at least $300 billion, possibly triple that figure, of deals being agreed. The Indian Prime Minister arrived in the Philippines capital on Sunday for a three-day visit.

His administration has said that those carrying out the killings have been acting in self defense, but many have condemned the extrajudicial slayings as a major human rights violation.

"The president was receptive to my comments and it was throughout a very cordial and positive exchange", Trudeau told a news conference.

American president Donald Trump met with Mr Duterte yesterday, and his office reported they briefly discussed human rights and the Philippines' war on drugs. However, at some point into the banquet, Duterte, seated next to Trump in his formal Philippines long-sleeved white shirt, suddenly stood up and startled his guests with a vocal performance. Trump has previously praised Duterte's handling of his nation's drug problems.
