Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 revealed

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1's LT5 V-8 engine leaked

The 2019 Corvette is set to go on sale in spring 2018.

If you like your 'Vettes in aggressive colors, Chevy rolled out a "Sebring Orange Design Package", which pretty much takes orange to 11. Perhaps the best approach to study the new engine in the 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1 is to consider what came before it.

Dual-injection means the LT5 uses primary direct injection as well as supplemental port injection, to get 755 horsepower out of 6.2 liters with the help of that very big supercharger. That means more than a Pagani Huayra Roadster (with 754 HP), more than a McLaren 720S (with 710 HP), and more than a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (with 707 HP). With a supercharged LT5 6.2L V8 the Corvette ZR1 has an insane 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft. of torque.

Ever since I drove the C7 Chevrolet Corvette, it solidified something for me. However, those who prefer paddle-shifting can now spec an eight-speed automatic transmission instead. That adds up to a smoother change when you release the clutch.

GM says that, on the racetrack, the new ZR1 is the highest-performing Vette in the nameplate's production history. That exceeds the prior-gen ZR1 by at least 5 miles per hour. However, there are still some figures we don't know.

Sometimes, General Motors gets a auto so very right.

Do you want to go fast, or do you want to go around corners?

After months of teases and anticipation, Chevrolet finally revealed the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 supercar on Sunday, Nov. 12 in Dubai. The Z06 can bust through the 0-60-mph barrier in under three seconds, so expect the ZR1 to chop several tenths off that time.

That's right, you can have the ZR1 in two aerodynamic configurations. But for track enthusiasts, a "High Wing" option is available, which plonks a larger two-way adjustable wing on the car's back, giving it extra downforce to keep it pressed into a track - likely something cooked up during its extensive testing on the Nurburgring. Both feature substantial ground-works including a large front splitter and new under-mounted front wing, with the "low-wing" package generating 70 per cent more downforce than the standard Z06.

To add the "High Wing" aero kit, customers must opt for the ZTK Performance Package that includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires, specially tuned magnetic ride-control and a front splitter with carbon fiber end plates.

Inside: details like a carbon fiber-trimmed steering wheel highlight the 2019 Corvette ZR1.

The Corvette is generally thought of as an accessible sports vehicle, but GM refers to the ZR1 as a "supercar".
