OnePlus 5T won't feature wireless charging, says CEO

"Wirelessly charging more than one device at a time further divides that number, leading to even slower charging per device", OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau wrote on the company's forum.

Now, the OnePlus 5T promises to be bigger and better than the OnePlus 5 and a recent tweet from the company's CEO Pete Lau stresses the fact that the OnePlus 5T is set to be more expensive than the OnePlus 5. Some wireless charging pads are being marketed as offering up to 15 watts of power, that is if the smartphone is properly placed on the charging pad.

They're solid points, but it nearly sounds like he's arguing from an either/or perspective, when in reality adding wireless charging support to the OnePlus 5T wouldn't remove Dash Charge, it would just give you more choice, and surely therefore more convenience. However, it will not feature wireless charging abilities. However, Lau also didn't slam the door on a future inclusion of the feature.

Wireless charging aside, the OnePlus 5T retail prices have been leaked as well. First, it was rumored that the OnePlus 5T will have exactly same price as of OnePlus 5 but again, those were only rumors.

Reason 1: Wired quick charging solutions like ours clearly outshine wireless on quantitative measures. Given present-day infrastructures, wireless charging brings more limitations than freedom. However, Apple had released the iPhone 8 series including iPhone X with Qi standard-based wireless charging technology. It also introduced me to Dash Charge, OnePlus' now popular fast charging technology.

Wireless charging requires you to keep your device perfectly aligned on the pad to get the advertised charging rates and energy efficiency. Users could be gaming, streaming video or browsing through their social feeds while fast charging their smartphones. But, that's not the case with dash charger - you can simply plug-in and use you phone for anything and at anytime.

Dash Charge eliminates both of those problems, he added.

"We'll consider adopting when the time is right". The date has been officially announced and this flagship device from OnePlus is declared to go on sale on November 21.
