New Star Wars trilogy has no Skywalker

The news comes direct from Star Wars' official blog, and we also now know that the new saga will be led by Rian Johnson, the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, set for a release this December.

“We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on The Last Jedi, ” Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement.

Also on December 13, new locations and vehicles will arrive alongside cinematic content from Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the new Crait planetary map.

Lucasfilm worded their announcement very carefully, suggesting that Johnson would "create" the all-new Star Wars trilogy. Phil Lord and Chris Miller were in the middle of directing Solo: A Star Wars Story when Lucasfilm replaced them with Ron Howard, and Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) was supposed to helm the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX, but he was let go a few months ago. "He's a creative force, and watching him craft 'The Last Jedi" from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career.

No release or production date has been set yet for Johnson's new "Star Wars" trilogy. The game certainly comes with much more content than its predecessor, and new details provided by EA give us a good luck at what post-launch content we can expect in the weeks to come. This all new chapter of Star Wars Battlefront II's single-player story mode will be available December 13. Coming just a few days before the next Star Wars movie named also The Last Jedi, DICE wants you to make the biggest decision any Star Wars fan has to make, "which side are you on?". What part of the Star Wars galaxy will this take place in? While it's fun to look back and connect, for Lucasfilm it's even MORE fun to look forward and create something entirely new!
