Veterans Day Parade set for Saturday

Live Oak City Councilman Bob Tullgren, a retired Air Force master sergeant who has attended the parade for more than 40 years, said his favorite part of the event is seeing the displays of patriotism.

American Legion Post 26 will be holding its annual Veterans Day Parade on Saturday.

Where: The parade begins at Roswell Street Baptist Church and travels through Marietta Square.

The veteran of today is respected and revered by millions of Americans nationwide and in the continuing tradition to honor them and to maintain the legacy of their efforts for the "altar of freedom", we look forward to seeing each and every one of you at the ceremony.

We show gratitude through a renewed commitment to care for those men and women who have faithfully served our nation in uniform.

The Veterans Day parade is always held in the 11th month, on the 11th day and during the 11th hour.

The Veterans Day Ceremony pays tribute to those in the military during wartime or peacetime.

This year's guests of honor will be all World War II veterans and James E. Prosser, assistant secretary for Veterans Affairs for North Carolina. Information about their military service will appear in the event program, and their photos will be featured in a commemorative slideshow.

This year marks the 36th Georgia Veterans Day Parade in downtown Atlanta.

The City's Veterans Day events are free and open to the public.

Time: Steps off at 7 p.m.

The celebration will honor veterans for their patriotism, love of country, willingness to serve, and sacrifice for the common good.
