Sanchez looks increasingly likely to be leaving Arsenal next summer no matter what Arsene Wenger does to try to convince him to sign a new contract.

Alves, who faced off against Sanchez in Brazil's 3-0 win against Chile in the early hours of Wednesday morning, hopes to see his former Barcelona teammate join him at the Parc des Princes at the end of the campaign when his Arsenal deal expires. "I always said the fact that we didn't find an agreement past year doesn't mean the player will necessarily leave".

Arsene Wenger says it is "possible" that Arsenal could cut their losses on Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in January.

"No, not at the moment", said Wenger, when asked if talks between Arsenal and the duo were in the pipeline, according to Sky Sports.

The Gunners pulled the plug on an agreement to sell Sanchez to Manchester City on deadline day after being unable to secure the signing of Monaco's Thomas Lemar.

When asked specifically about Ozil's future at the club, the Frenchman replied: "It is my understanding [that he wants to stay]".

"The message from Wenger to Sanchez today was: "Give me until January and then you can go", Keown told the Daily Mail.

Alves was up against Sanchez on global duty this week when his Brazil side beat Chile in a World Cup qualifier which saw Sanchez's side crash out of the competition.

"It was very physical and mentally I will have to assess the situation".

"I believe he and Ramsey are winners and will want to focus on winning things".

Wenger might have given them an opening after admitting there is possibility that the two could be could.

Arsenal fans already upset at Sanchez failing to commit himself to the club are now even more frustrated following Chile's World Cup exit.

"I will be happy for him wherever he goes".
