Bharti Airtel, India's number 1 telecom company is set to collaborate with Karbonn mobile phones to introduce the cheapest 4G smartphone in India with a cost of 1399 INR.

This is yet another step in our ongoing journey to deeply understand customers and bring innovation that delights them", Raj Pudipeddi, Director - Consumer Business & CMO, Bharti Airtel, said in a statement.

Karbonn A40 Indian smartphone comes bundled with a monthly pack of Rs 169 from Airtel.

Unlike just a smart feature phone, the Karbonn A40 Indian is a smartphone that runs Android 7.0 Nougat. It is backed by a 1,400 mAh battery.

Moreover, the Karbonn A40 Indian also comes with a 2 MP camera at the back and a 0.3 MP camera on the front.

"The Google Certified - Karbonn A40 Indian has a full touch screen plus dual SIM slots, and offers complete access to all apps on Google Play Store, including YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp".

Airtel has paired with Indian smartphone manufacturer, Karbonn to launch this device and provides bundled Airtel offers along with it.

Airtel has partnered with Karbonn Mobiles to unveil Karbonn A40 Indian smartphone in India. Through this association, we aim at strengthening our reach with the consumer that resides at the heart of smart telephony.

Reliance Jio said the "effective price" of its JioPhone was 'Rs 0.' Later the company's terms and conditions pointed out that customers would have to pay almost Rs 6,000 for the free JioPhone.

As a promotional "Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone" offer, Karbonn A40 Indian, which costs Rs. 3,499 (MRP), is being offered at an effective price of Rs. 1,499 and will come with lucrative Airtel 4G data bundle and also additional packs with prices starting at just Rs. 169.

Although initially, this phone will not even be worth only Rs 1399, in order to get it, the customer will have to make a down payment of Rs 2,899 in the beginning, after which 36 months will be recharged monthly for 169 rupees. The first cashback of Rs 500 will be given after 18 months and the rest Rs 1000 after 36 months.

Airtel 4G smartphone has finally been announced. The device can connect to WiFi and has both Bluetooth and Global Positioning System. The smartphones will be available across all retail stores in India. The telecom network also adds that the "ownership of the smartphone is completely with the customer and there is no need to return the device to Airtel/Karbonn at any point to claim the cash benefit".

Only after you recharge for Rs. 3000 in the first 18 months and Rs. 3000 again for the next 18 months, you will see the full cashback that is promised. This time Airtel is giving a tough fight by providing a touchscreen unlike a keypad phone by Jio.
