Lukaku Scores Again, Rooney Frustrated As Man United Thrash Everton

The 31-year-old was greeted warmly by the home fans as he played his first game against the club since returning to Everton in July.

This match was going to be the much touted return of Wayne Rooney to Old Trafford.

For all of Manchester City's hype, Manchester United are right there alongside them in the table and they have the same goal difference to boot.

"They wanted me, but a few things happened and I thought Everton would be the best place for me to come".

Everton are in the bottom three after losing three Premier League games in a row, conceding nine goals without reply.

Lukaku's goal was his fifth of the season, which puts him joint level with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero as the Premier League's top scorer.

According to The Independent, in Juan Mata and Mkhitaryan, United have two No 10s on the pitch.

"I think we needed that, after Liverpool", Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey said. "With a bit more freedom we would have won the game".

He wrote in his personal blog on the back of a 4-0 victory over Everton: "We are happy, for sure, but we keep the euphoria away from the dressing room".

Mourinho wrote in his programme notes ahead of Everton's visit to Old Trafford on Sunday that a team which spent £140 million in the summer should be looking to secure Champions League football.

"Is there anybody who sees this as realistic for Everton?".

United toiled for long periods and Everton could have equalised, but Lukaku felt the hosts deserved to win.

They were unfortunate to lose by four goals, though, with a spirited second-half performance worth more at least a point.

There has been speculation that Jose Mourinho is angry with Herrera for inviting an inappropriate friend to the training ground at the end of last season, but the Manchester Evening News claim there is no truth in those rumours.
