I am looking forward to the race, although I know it will be very hot and humid, which makes it one of the most hard tracks.

The motorsport series came under new ownership this year when the US sports and entertainment firm Liberty Media bought out investment fund CVC Capital Partners, and Carey ended Bernie Ecclestone's reign lasting almost 40 years. Mercedes now lead Ferrari by 62 points - and this weekend represents a great chance for Ferrari, who undoubtedly hold the upper hand in Singapore - to close the gap on the Silver Arrows. We have so far not got a chance to engage in depth yet, it has only been a little over half a year since the complete change in ownership, ” said Carey in response to a PTI query.

"We are looking forward to offering our continued support to make the next four years even more spectacular and exciting". The only night race on the calendar will continue until 2021.

That is what Formula One drivers are facing at this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix.

“We have interest from many countries around the world for races in the future. But Asia in general is tremendously important.

"We wanted to thoroughly evaluate the medium-term prospects for F1 and the value a term extension could bring to Singapore", said Iswaran.

Carry said the sports revamp has already started. Formula 1 is my first and only priority.

"We're proud of the race, we have a good relationship and our goal is to get to a place where we build on that partnership long-term".
