Three Children Found Dead in California, Father Arrested

Three children were killed at this apartment complex in West Sacramento on Wednesday by their mother's husband

A father accused of killing his three children during a domestic dispute near Sacramento, California was arrested on Thursday, ABC News reports.

Upon entry to the intricate, authorities performed life-sparing measures on three kids found inside a flat before proclaiming them perished at the scene.

Although police have not released the identities of the young victims, Aiello confirmed that the couple had an 11-year-old boy, a nine-year-old girl and another boy who was born in January.

Police are actively searching for a male suspect.

Police said that the children's mother was injured during the domestic assualt.

Police activity will be ongoing in the area through the night and into the morning hours. Mai Hodges was unable to be there, Menzies said, noting that she is going through great turmoil, but Hodges wished to convey her gratitude for the community's support.

KCRA 3 quoted West Sacramento police Sgt. Roger Kinney, who said the officers were affected by the horrific crime. "The officers are absolutely impacted, along with the firefighters, and certainly the family, the neighbors - this call is going to have quite a bit of emotion. 'This [investigation] is going to take not hours, not days, it's going to take a long time a long time to come to grips with what happened there".

The mother had been choked and Hodges was not far behind her. It's horrific, and it's very hard to deal with.

Neighbors and officials organized a candlelight vigil at the school, while a makeshift memorial sprouted outside the family's second-floor apartment in a quiet, neatly maintained apartment complex with a gated driveway.

Robert Hodges was later apprehended by police on an interstate near his home around midnight on Thursday, September 14.

She said she went into the home to check on the children and found all three of them dead. "I was in my apartment all the time". The children and their mother had not yet been officially identified on September 14, and their ages were not released yet by authorities.

Two of the children were students at Southport Elementary School. The school district also brought in counselors and support personnel to help teachers and students during this time of grief.

Alina and Daniel Vertelnikov, who are friends of the victims, recalled how happy the kids seemed.
