Real Madrid extends Marcelo's contract until 2022

Real Madrid says it has extended the contract of veteran left back Marcelo until June 2022.

"I never thought about the possibility of being signed by Barcelona, because my idea was to triumph in Real Madrid", Alarcon said at press conference after signing the new contract.

Isco's previous deal was set to run out at the end of this season, but the Spanish international's extension will end any rumours of a possible summer move. He was instrumental in Real winning La Liga and the Champions League trophy.

Isco was linked with joining Juve and Tottenham in the summer, but the player has now chose to commit his future to Real Madrid.

The last time Real Sociedad had such a good start in the Spanish league, it went on to win the title. Atletico Madrid won the match 2-1, but Real Madrid's aggregate lead and away goal advanced them. "I hope to score more in important games".

Isco had already proven his talent before his arrival to the Bernabeu stadium.

He also starred for Spain, scoring twice as they defeated Group G rivals Italy 3-0 earlier this month to move within a victory of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification.

"In that period of nearly a year, he's hardly played and he's not at his best yet physically".

The former Malaga man has made 22 global appearances, scoring twice in the World Cup qualifying win over Italy earlier this month.

Sociedad sit alongside Barcelona at the top with nine points from their first three games and Real coach Zinedine Zidane said his side will need to improve this weekend as he looks to compensate for attacking absentees.
