Muslim Man Attacks French Sentinel Soldier With Knife

BREAKING: Knifeman 'shouting Allah' attacks soldier at Paris train station near Notre Dame

A knife-wielding man attacked a soldier on patrol as part of an anti-terror operation in Paris on Friday but did not cause any injuries, police said.

"We do not know anything more about the intentions of the assailant who has been arrested", Parly told the media.

The suspect, said to be shouting Islamic State slogans, attacked a French soldier carrying out anti-terrorism duties in the French captial this morning.

The man was taken to the main Chateletpolice station, and now faces a range of terrorist charges. In January six Sentinelle soldiers were injured when a vehicle smashed into them close to the headquarters of France's anti-terrorism police unit in the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret. But she said their assignments will be made with a greater focus on temporary and seasonal events.

However, patrols around major tourist sites, places of worship, train stations and airports will still continue as before.

Reports state that the man was not previously known to the police, and has been arrested.

Recently, authorities said last month that six soldiers in Levallois, outside Paris, were hurt when a driver deliberately rammed into them.

The soldier involved was with the Sentinelle force assigned to protect prominent sites since deadly Islamic extremist attacks in recent years.

The person reportedly attacked the soldier with a knife.

In June, an ISIS supporter drove a auto loaded with gas bottles into a military vehicle on the same road.

In April, a police officer was killed in a shooting on the Champs-Elysées.
