Will the Lakers retire both No. 8 and No

Reports: Los Angeles Lakers to retire Kobe Bryant's jersey on Dec. 18

The Lakers confirmed that the ceremony to honor the five-time NBA Champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist will be held at halftime of the December 18 home game against the Golden State Warriors. Starting in the 2006-07 season, Bryant began to wear No. 24 - the first number he wore in high school.

Should the Los Angeles Lakers retire Kobe Bryant's No 8, No 24, or both his numbers? Bryant was able to win 5 NBA World Championships, named Finals MVP twice while being named to the All-NBA Team 11 times in his future Hall Of Fame career.

The team will retire both of Bryant's numbers. He was the first player in National Basketball Association history to spend at least 20 seasons with one franchise.

He was a two-time scoring champion, 15-time All-NBA team member, 12-time All-Defensive team member, and a member of the 1996-1997 All-Rookie team.

The team will retire both of Bryant's numbers.

"Kobe's jerseys are taking their rightful home next to the greatest Lakers of all time", Lakers chief executive and controlling owner Jeanie Buss said. "The Lakers have bestowed a huge honor on me and I'm grateful for the fans' enthusiasm around this game".

Bryant would become the 10th Lakers player to have his jersey retired, joining the likes of Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson.

The Black Mamba will have two jerseys hung up in the rafters of the Staples Arena.

It was always a given, but now it's been confirmed by the L.A. Lakers.
