Disney World Reopens Following Irma

Disney World, Universal to reopen Tuesday after Irma sweeps through Florida

"Walt Disney World's Theme Parks and Disney Springs will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 12 with normal, advertised operating hours".

After closing its doors for two days in preparation for Hurricane Irma, Walt Disney World is ready to reopen to the public. Ashley was stuck in Animal Kingdom with her boyfriend, and shared the experience in a series of videos on YouTube.

Walt Disney World and neighboring attractions Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando were on track to reopen Tuesday after missing a major hit from Hurricane Irma.

All Disney Resorts will begin normal operation September 12, 2017 with the exception of Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground and Disney's Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas.

On Thursday, September 7, the park tweeted: "In anticipation of inclement weather, Night of Joy has been cancelled on September 9 and Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been cancelled on September 10".

"Disney has been part of Florida for about 45, 46 years", added her companion Josh Geller, who said it would be "weird" to imagine a long-term closure of the theme park.

Disney hotels have remained open throughout the two days, luckily, so vacationers did have a place to stay while Irma passed through Florida.

"Our destination saw relatively minor damage overnight involving fences, trees, signage, and building facades", reads a statement from Universal Orlando.

Seeing hurricane force gusts over the Orlando metro area with this intense rain band + intense rainfall! All three theme parks said they never lost power. No word from either park on when they expect to be open.
