Swansea City manager Paul Clement admits that his side were nowhere near good enough during their 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Newcastle United.

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar all make the list but it is Manchester United who dominate with four players in the top 10, three in the top five and nine in the top 30.

"Of course he would be a miss, but we know he would want us to focus on the game and know our jobs, we have to put the right performance in to get the points".

"I said to the players in the dressing room, there's all the make-believe stuff, what's written on the paper and how we think it's going to go, and then there's the reality of what actually happens in the game".

After securing their first win of the campaign with a 3-0 home victory over West Ham before September's worldwide break, the 31-year-old now believes that Newcastle can get their season off properly - starting with another possible three points against the Swans. We had good training week, all our meetings were very good.

They nearly did go in front when Ayoze Perez forced Fabianski into saving with his outstretched leg.

"But the ins that we got are very good and I am pleased with the size of the squad".

The Newcastle team v Swansea has just been confirmed.

The former Nottingham Forest trainee had made a crucial intervention in his own penalty box minutes earlier, clearing off the line after on-loan Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham had rounded Rob Elliot. It is the second time this season that Swansea have conceded in that fashion although Clement, pointing to their excellent record when defending set-pieces last season, refused to accept that the zonal-marking system is to blame.

"He kept in touch with us throughout the game".

The Welsh club enjoyed an impressive end to the transfer window, as they secured the deadline day signings of Wilfried Bony and Renato Sanches.

"It's collective responsibility and I'm at the head of that". We need Rafa back as soon as possible.
