BMW plunges 7 floors in Texas parking garage

VIDEO: BMW plunges 7 floors from downtown parking garage

A woman is recovering from serious injuries suffered when the vehicle she was driving plunged from the seventh story of an Austin, Texas, parking garage.

In the clip, shot from a security camera in the alley below, we see a Chevy Tahoe completing a three-point turn and getting ready to park. Suddenly, the BMW violently crashes to the ground behind the SUV. Police said they mistook the gas pedal for the brakes and crashed through the parking garage barriers.

"I heard all these loud noises and bangs", Burch is quoted as saying.

"I can just imagine what she was thinking when I had said, 'a auto just landed on me, I gotta go, '" he said.

Police said the woman survived, but suffered serious injuries during the crash, which happened on July 13. The SUV moves out of the way before bystanders rush to help the driver of the BMW. Authorities said the woman was seriously injured.

Surveillance video shows the auto hit the pavement after a seven-storey plunge from a downtown parking garage and striking another vehicle as it lands in the alley.

Last September, 23-year-old William O'Connor's Toyota 4Runner fell from the garage's top level while O'Connor was on his way to nearby Gold's Gym.
